Design thinking is a comprehensive and well-known method that addresses the critical areas of who, what, how and why. There’s a lot of variety in how the method is depicted, but the common framework is the empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test sequence.
But the most important is that Design thinking is a methodology for creating products, services and experiences where you put your target customer at the center of your development process. Set out to build a “minimum viable product” that solves for a specific customer need or problem, and iterate over time to improve.
Instead of designing a product and trying to find ways it will make people’s lives better, you start by looking at what users really want and need and work toward that goal. You look at the whole user experience from their perspective. Focusing first on the experience rather than simply rushing ahead to just “solve the problem” leads to faster, more successful solutions and results.
